FALL IN LOVE WITH GREEN JUICE
Back in college when I began my whole health journey I discovered my love for juicing. I was obsessed with watching health and food documentaries when I stumbled upon a juice fasting film where a guy completely changed his medical status from drinking only juice for an extended period of time. I fell in love with the fascinating ways we can heal our own bodies naturally, so what else would a girl with adhd tendencies do…order a juicer of course! So that I did, I ordered my first juicer online and waited by my college apartment mailroom for the delivery. In the meantime I saved about 100 Pinterest juice recipes that got me even more excited for its arrival. When my juicer arrived my 1,000 track mind continued to spiral as I planned how I was going to start a juicing business and sell and get the word out about how amazing juicing was and that we all needed to drink fresh pressed juice to be healthier. Anyway I ended up coming down to earth and mellowing out on the whole juice business but something that did stay was the habit of it in my kitchen. I found that juicing was a powerful way to help with gut health and resetting my system and giving it a break from constantly working on digesting food and more time healing my body. It became routine during my morning hours to juice organic veggies and fruits and make different combinations and provide myself with lots of nutrients in a small glass. What I mainly noticed from juicing on a daily basis was energy and better gut health. I woke up feeling energized everyday, never thinking about coffee or yawning through my first set of classes. Today I don’t juice as often as I once did mainly because of time but this was the era in my life when I fell in love with green juice. Celery, lemon & green apple was my favorite concoction I had come up with, it was sour and the celery really helped give me clear skin and decrease bloating. I still have a passion and love for fresh pressed juices no matter if it’s at home, the local juice shops or trying new ones I find a Whole Foods. Juices will always make me feel good and from time to time I will do a short juice fast to jumpstart feeling good by giving my body a damn break. If you love juices too I encourage you to try out my celery, green apple and lemon juice mixture even if you don’t have a juicer you can use cheese cloth and strain it. If you’re just starting out this is a great beginners juicer. Either way, in a world full of Reels and Tik Toks convincing you to never touch a fruit or vegetable again or overwhelming you with a different diet each month of the year, just ground yourself. I truly believe if you prioritize high quality, local, minimal ingredient foods you can have a whole diet that includes all the things from meat to veggies and everything in between and live a life that feels good for your body. So, drink the green juice, you’ll probably end up liking it.
