LAMBRUSCO SPRITZ: A SPRITZ LOVERS TRANSITION INTO FALL
Last year I discovered what a Lambrusco Spritz was and ever since I’ve been serving these up at my house for guests or pairing them with menus and happy hours at dinners parties. Of course they’re a hit. A Lambrusco wine is a red Italian sparkling wine served chilled or at least thats the only way I’ve ever had it. It quickly became a summer drink favorite of mine, but then I discovered the Lambrusco Spritz, a combination of Aperol, grapefruit juice, Lambrusco wine & sparkling water topped with green olives. If you love the summer line up of spritz like an Aperol, Limoncello & Hugo, then you’ll love a good transition into fall with a Lambrusco Spritz. I say fall transition because the drink is a semi dry, more bitter, dark cocktail that falls more under my category of fall transitional cocktails rather than a full blown summer drink. But hey who am I to say when you should drink your drinks, all I’m saying is next time you’re out ask if they can do a Lambrusco Spritz you’ll be very surprised how tasty they are! If you would rather make them at home here’s my ratio you can follow:
3 oz semi dry Lambrusco
1 oz grapefruit juice
1 oz Aperol
1 oz sparkling water
3 Castelvetrano olives
Ice
Orange slice or dehydrated orange slice
